So I was returning back from the Philippines and there were some technical issues with the plane. They had to land at London for a day to sort the issue out. We had free stay options and for the next 24 hours. However I saw opportunity, 24 hours to explore London.
I went out around London exploring the city, the food, and the attractions there. It was beautiful. The city was well adapted to taking care of the environment. There was minimal electrical usage, a large public transport system that most people used, and reusable and recyclable things being used. It was nice and easy to explore the city with all these facilities available. I took the train and landed up in another city that had the best desserts ever.
During these long hours of exploring and traveling, there was one problem. Heat. It was so hot this summer and it seemed worse in London. The heat wave felt so strong that my life was being taken out of me. I had gallons of water but was still dying of thirst and felt dehydration will really affect me. The heat was one thing this city was not prepared for. I walked a mile and was on the verge of fainting. While walking in the heat, I was contemplating.
Climate change is a major problem and makes life much harder. Its time to reflect on actions we do every day that affect the environment because it all comes back at us in forms that make life much more difficult. The heat wave is something has been caused and further progressed by humans and their actions.
The stop and London for a day really taught me a lot about life and also a free chance to explore a new city I have never been to. I only have an hour left before we land in New York, but that was an incredible journey that just took place.
